The four hundred works in this book were created by forty-six artists from six cities. The essays, plate sections and chronology are color-coded by city. Rectangles with each city’s name and designated color are printed on the fore-edge of the book, creating navigational tabs. The tabs join together at the chronology, which aligns seven timelines—documenting the six cities plus related events—from 1911 to 1926.
