This monument to Andrade, includes early and late landscapes book-ending her 1960s Op Art. The heart of the book is an illustrated chronology of photographs, drawings, sketches, notes, calculations and letters that I selected from Andrade’s archive. Andrade’s teachings, inspirations and interest in mathematics are presented through facsimile reproductions of these documents. The Bibliography is a letter from Andrade in which she lists the books that were “useful and sometimes inspiring” to her. The printing process included a series of exhaustive tests to find the best method and materials for printing and stamping the saturated and vibrant colors. The trim and grid of the book is based on the Fibonacci sequence, or Golden Ratio, following a 1.618 sequence that Andrade explored in her work.
