This is the third book that I designed for Laura McPhee and the first that I produced. Her photographs, shot with a large-format view camera and often printed wall size, are filled with exquisite details. We wanted this book to fit on a shelf, but the photographs needed to be large. We decided to allow twenty-eight images to cross the gutter. The result is a grand presence. Working with Laura is as spectacular as working with her images. Together, we edited, sequenced, selected details and colors, and travelled to Verona to oversee the printing of her book.
